HIRE OUR SPACE

While the main use of our space is for Mosaic & Glass classes and events, we’re happy to hire it to others when we’re not using it. If you’re interested in teaching mosaic and glass, please contact us for more information about how this works (which is different to hiring the space for other uses).

Do you need a space to teach an art, craft, music or wellbeing class? Or perhaps you’d like to hold an exhibition, or you’ve thought about setting up your own shop but you don’t want to commit to a long-term lease. We’re delighted to offer you a space that you can hire short term, to showcase and share your expertise and wares with your customers!

Important notes:

  • You are responsible for tidying the space after you use it, so that it is ready for the next person hiring the space – they might be arriving directly after you. There is a sweeping brush available and cleaning equipment to wipe down tables/tablecloths. You need to factor in time in your hire for any set-up or clean-up time you’ll need. So if it takes you 15 minutes to set up and 15 minutes to clean up, your event start/end times need to be adjusted within the space hire window to allow for that.
  • Our hours of operation are generally 7am to 9.15pm. These are the earliest and latest times that you can get access to/must vacate the studio. If you need access outside these times, we can discuss it.
  • You must be present in the studio to oversee your event at all times (or you can send someone to do this on your behalf). The hire fee you pay us is for space hire only – we don’t provide staffing. We also don’t take any commission on your sales.
  • You take bookings direct for any events/classes. You also take the lead on marketing and promotion. We are happy to offer a complimentary listing on our website and on our Instagram page. We will point readers to your website/email to complete bookings.
  • You are responsible for insuring your activities/materials, including any public liability costs etc. If you’re an artist/maker, it’s possible to get low cost insurance for a year – for example, A-N provides annual insurance for approximately £38 (as at December 2024) covering multiple events/activities.
  • Full payment for space hire is required on booking. If you cancel four weeks or more in advance of the start date of your event, a full refund is possible. Otherwise, a refund will only be possible if we get a replacement booking to cover your date(s).
  • The mininum hire time is two hours and 45 minutes, which is the evening hire. If you do classes lasting one hour, you could consider doing two classes, back to back, on the same evening (or half-day hire), to maximise the hire fee.

What’s included in the space hire fee:

  • Space hire for the full time you book (which must include any time for set up or tidying you need to do when you finish).
  • Electricity and utilities.
  • Tea and coffee.
  • Access to a small fridge/freezer.
  • Toilet facilities.
  • Tables and chairs for 16.
  • Promotion on our “What’s on” page or our Instagram page, if required, and if information is provided to us in the required format. (Please remember that you are responsible for taking the lead on marketing and you take the bookings directly.)
  • For hires of one week or more, if you’re doing a pop-up or exhibiton and you’d like to attract passersby inside, you can put a large poster in our main window. Or you can dress the main shop window as you wish.

What it costs to hire our space:
